New owners finding their feet
We stayed for a night, and it was alright overall. The place looks nice, but the room was pretty basic and needs a revamp. Breakfast was just Weetabix or Rice Crispies, which was not what I expected. The friendly staff made up for it, though, and the dining area was cozy.

great spot for exploring whitby's parks and abbey
I really enjoyed my stay as the dining experience was excellent with great pub-standard food and the location made it easy to visit nearby landmarks like Whitby Abbey and the beautiful Cinder Track, which are both just a short walk away, perfect for a weekend stumble through the city.

The Plough provided an excellent stay with spacious accommodations and a cozy atmosphere. The en-suite room was comfortable, and the amenities included a flat screen TV and tea-making facilities. Dinner options were varied and delicious. I particularly enjoyed the lasagne served with generous portion sizes. Their Full English breakfast was a standout, featuring high-quality ingredients that catered to various dietary needs.
One downside was the shower pressure, which was below expectations.

The Plough in Whitby offered a fantastic experience with some highlights and a few areas for improvement. The food was exceptional. I loved the Baked Camembert appetizer and the Steak and Ale pie was delicious. Breakfast included generous portions, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. My room was comfortable but it could use some attention. The carpet had some dust and the bathroom could have benefited from a deeper clean. The shower pressure was quite low, making it a bit frustrating. Still, I appreciated the spaciousness of the room. The outdoor seating area was lovely, perfect for sunny afternoons. the hospitality was top-notch, with Simone and Dazza going above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. I would definitely consider returning despite the minor issues with cleanliness and shower pressure.

Had a fantastic stay at this cozy pub! We enjoyed meals on the outdoor patio with views of the beautiful Esk Valley, and the kids especially loved the hearty Sunday lunch. It’s the perfect spot for families, making it easy to create lasting memories.
My kids wished there were more activities for teens.

Friendly interactions with locals.
My experience was far from pleasant. The room was small, damp, and dirty. The carpet in the entrance hall was filthy, giving a terrible first impression. The mattress felt like sleeping on springs without any padding, which is unacceptable for the price I paid.

Had a great time with friends! We explored the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and a local beach. Our room was spacious with great shower facilities, and the breakfast was freshly cooked to order. The staff were super helpful. Bike storage was a plus too.
The only downside was that the only bathroom was in our room, which was a bit inconvenient for our group.

Had a blast staying here with friends! We visited the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and explored the local sights. The room was spacious with great shower pressure, and the breakfast was amazing, accommodating dietary needs. Staff were super friendly too. Totally recommend this place for a fun getaway.
One downside was the bathroom situation. The shower barely had any water pressure and took forever to rinse properly. A bit frustrating but didn't ruin our overall experience.

The room was pretty basic but clean enough. The bed felt a bit worn out, which wasn't the best. Shower pressure was nearly non-existent, so washing my hair took ages. Plus, the toilet didn’t flush properly at the end of our stay.
